AI taking over web design - a poem - made by an AI

Web designers once held the keys
To the virtual world’s aesthetics,
But now their skills are being ousted
By the rise of artificial intelligence.

Gone are the days of custom-made sites,
Of endless hours spent coding and designing,
As AI algorithms take over
And leave humans behind.

The web was once a place of endless possibility,
A canvas for designers to create and explore,
But now it seems that AI is taking over,
Leaving web designers feeling like a dying breed.

Gone are the days of custom-made sites,
Of endless hours spent coding and designing,
As AI algorithms automate the process,
Leaving humans to wonder what their role is now.

Maybe not quite yet…

Yes AI’s are not perfect. Actually, the poem above had a little human intervention. It is two poems, and I selected two paragraphs. The whole poems is as follows:

Web designers once held the keys
To the virtual world’s aesthetics,
But now their skills are being ousted
By the rise of artificial intelligence.

Gone are the days of custom-made sites,
Of endless hours spent coding and designing,
As AI algorithms take over
And leave humans behind.

But even as their jobs are threatened,
Web designers must not despair,
For they still hold a valuable place
In the world of web development.

Their creativity and innovation
Cannot be replaced by a machine,
And their unique perspectives
Will always be needed.

So let the AI do its work,
But let us not forget the value
Of human talent and ingenuity.
For web designers will always have a place
In the ever-evolving world of the internet.

Then I asked it to do it again and it came up with this:

The web was once a place of endless possibility,
A canvas for designers to create and explore,
But now it seems that AI is taking over,
Leaving web designers feeling like a dying breed.

Gone are the days of custom-made sites,
Of endless hours spent coding and designing,
As AI algorithms automate the process,
Leaving humans to wonder what their role is now.

But even as AI advances,
Web designers must not lose heart,
For they bring a valuable perspective
That cannot be replicated by a machine.

Their creativity and innovation
Are essential to the web’s continued growth,
And as long as humans have a say,
Web designers will always have a place.

So let AI do its work,
But let us not forget the value
Of human talent and ingenuity.
For web designers will always be an integral part
Of the ever-evolving world of the internet.

This is off course Chat GPT, the friendly chat robot :-) Wonder what will come out of the malicious AI´s…

I’m a long-term AI sceptic. But when my wife went out, asking me if I would draft a New Year marketing letter for her practice, I thought I’d see what chat.openai.com could do. OMG! It wrote a much better letter than I could do. Instantly! (Earlier I asked it to rewrite Auld Lang Syne in the style of Joni Mitchell — is there nothing it can’t do?) This leaves me feeling very conflicted. It’s clearly an incredible technological triumph (and I doubt openai is anything like ‘cutting edge’). But the implications of this technology for jobs are terrifying — at a time when sensible political leadership is suffering a global shortage.

It’s not perfect. The other day I asked for a list of stuff and then added constraints so a smaller list remained. While further narrowing down I noticed that one of the previous constraints were ignored. ChatGPT apologized when I pointed it out. But then the next iteration, items returned to the list that were removed from the list, because I had pointed out these not to be correct. Have a good laugh: https://mobile.twitter.com/itstimconnors/status/1599544717943123969?s=20&t=4Dqb01JNJDHnAHhWJ5oiHQ

And when I asked:

What is the fastest marine mammal?

It replied:

The fastest marine mammal is the sailfish, which is capable of swimming at speeds of up to 68 miles per hour (109 kilometers per hour). […]

So I replied:

Isn’t that a fish?

It started to bullshit:

Yes, the sailfish is a type of fish, not a mammal. However, it is often referred to as the fastest marine mammal because it is one of the fastest animals in the ocean, and it is a common comparison to make with other fast marine animals that are mammals, such as dolphins and whales. There are many different types of marine animals that are capable of swimming at high speeds, and the sailfish is just one of them.
