Web Host Recommendations

Can anyone recommend a cheap, trouble-free web hosting service? I have my 100-page site on HostGator, and have had nothing but problems. I have to call tech support every couple of weeks, and now they’ve taken away chat support, so I need to move. Recommendations?

I’m a huge Chillidog hosting fan.

Im with Clook. UK based and absolutely spot on.

For instance I had a problem with one of RW devs stacks a couple of weeks ago and I wasn’t sure where the problem originated - the stack, the API, my hosting or what. I wrote on the stacks forum but it was a weekend so I didn’t get the devs reply (Not surprising as everyone needs days off!!). However, the two client’s websites it was affecting were getting really upset. I rang Clook and the tech guy there said he would look into it. It turned out it was indeed the stack. However, he did a few temporary alterations on the server which meant that the problem disappeared. He didn’t have to do this at all. He could have just said - nope not hosting issue. The “fix” he created lasted until the stacks dev could update the stack. I was really impressed and always have been impressed by the service I received from them, no matter what occasional problems I have had.

And if you recommend someone to use their hosting there’s an affiliate link - which Im now using. But even if they didn’t have this I would still recommend them!!

I may not do any real web work any more but I’ve got about 50 of these pano tours hosted on Chillidog, other than 1 short outage that affected everyone I’ve never experienced a single hiccup.

I’ve been with a few over the years and now have a two plans with DreamHost (a very expensive Dedicated plan for a specific client with lots of external and internal sites and my own fairly-priced, fully-managed VPS where I host lots of other client sites. All of my client sites have plenty of room for their own email, which is an important consideration, as is down-time (really, lack-of) and tech support (which, hopefully isn’t needed often, but when so, is there quickly). I couldn’t be happier. I don’t know if I’d call the VPS plan cheap (I pay extra for a larger SSD and extra RAM), but I would call it a great value.

And Chillidog is great at handling the whole transfer process which they’ve done for me at least three times.

Lots of good hosting companies I use wehostmacs.com Customer service is good and they are well versed in RapidWeaver. I host several sites with them and have collocated servers for customers with them.

Thanks everyone, for the recommendations! I went ahead and signed up with Chillidog Hosting before I even saw some of the other recommendations. So far I’m very happy. I’m sure all these recommendations will be a great resource for other RW users.
Thanks again!

Odd that http://wehostmacs.com/ not running https & the copyright still on Copyright © 2020 …

Currently they are rebuilding the website. There was a technical reason for non Ssl. This is a major undertaking but should be rebuilt shortly.

This is more than odd. Also the client login is not using https. Not to recommend…
