A good book for the weekend

Is this banter? Not sure, but it is the weekend and this is totally off-topic, but I suspect people here may find this interesting…

I picked up a copy of Eliot Higgins’ recent book ‘We are Bellingcat: an intelligence agency for the people’ - it is truly fascinating for the insight it gives into bringing open source information together to reveal the truth about many controversial topics of recent times. This is not a spy novel, or crime detective book, but has small elements of each.

The author started using google earth and other freely available resources to geo-locate notable events in you tube videos and ended up proving who really did what, using cross-checkable resources available to anyone.

The story is detailed and fact-laden, maintaining the central tenet that any claim should be cross referenced multiple times and verifiable by anyone with an interest.

Worth a read.
