Dev Diary Ep7 - Remote Resource Support (aka Warehousing)

Hi RW4allers,

It’s that time of the week again already — We’ve got a new Elements Dev Dairy video, this one is in direct response to the feedback we got last week.

We’ve heard your requests, and we’ve worked overtime to get warehousing into Elements. While it’s not perfect (yet) and smaller in scope than the grand plans we have, we believe it’s a step in the right direction. We only focus on images in the video, but our implementation of this feature works equally as well with other file types.

We’re building RapidWeaver Elements in the open so we can get feedback as we go. We want to make sure we’re building the product our users want (including us). So please do continue to share your ideas and constructive feedback in the comments below.

Interesting development but how will the multiple image sizes issue be handled with warehoused images?

Great question! We don’t support it as seamlessly as we do with local images (see last weeks video), however you can have multiple image Elements and hide and show them at different break points. It’s not the most elegant way of doing it, but it works. We’ll certainly improve this over time, and are open to suggestions on how you’d like to see it implemented.
