Sorry, my idea with the default content actually requires that you use my Raincheck stack. It allows you to supply default content that will be displayed until the CookieJar accept is clicked. It has direct integrations made for CookieJar.
There is a demo of this integration in the Cookie Jar project. Basically you would put the Mailchimp code into Raincheck instead of into the CookieJar stack. Then CookieJar would trigger Raincheck to choose the correct content to display.
Sorry for the misstep, CookieJar does not have this feature by itself.
That was the missing link …!
