I currently have a client on a hosting plan and a seperate email plan from one provider. They have asked to be moved to a different hosting provider but want to keep their current email setup. Is there more I need to do than update the MX record at the new host so that it matches the existing MX record?
I just moved several clients email - the new hoster had the possibility to move the email account - just set it up use the same password and update the MX record and everything functioned perfect…

Really simple to do. I have quite a few customers, for example, who still have legacy email packages with GoDaddy (and for business reasons wanted to keep it there), but now host their sites with me (using DreamHost). In this combo, all that’s needed is to enter my IP Address (well, DreamHost’s IP Addresses) in two fields (www and the A-Records). More info can be found here- I would think that these directions would be similar for any provider.
