I’m having trouble in the text columns in the {{ }} symbols area, because the final symbol appears at the end of the area.

Have you tried adding the braces on new lines. Think you might need to do that where there are other markdown things going on (lists and quotes etc)

Yes, @habitualshaker is correct - the closing braces need to be away from the markdown so not only do you need them to be on a new line but you need a blank line between the markdown and the template characters, its a markdown thing.
